Browser Curiosities…

It’s a fact (because I proclaim it) that Safari is the defacto-best web browser.

But which is the better runner-up - Opera 10 or Flock 2.5? Sorry, Firefox is becoming too bloated and MSIE shouldn’t even exist as it has ruined all humanity as far as I’m concerned.

Certainly Flock makes it much easier to search for images and do all that social-networking stuff, but they haven’t kept up-to-date with it. It’s based on Mozilla code, which is now at 3.6 (shortly, anyway) and the F-browser is still based on 3.0 code.

Opera on the other hand handles “plug-ins” (extensions; add-ons, whatever you want to call them)  which they call “widgets” far better than the Firefox variety. There is nowhere near the selection, but that also is a good thing as one is not overwhelmed in choosing these add-ons.

And the new “Opera Unite” web-browser-as-a-server is a stunning idea with massive potential to make the world-wide web a true world-wide web.

I think I’ll stay with Opera 10.10b. I especially like how the email client is built-in with IMAP support (as web-based access is okay, I prefer plain-text emailing,) even though it doesn’t support digital signature certificates (which is why ThunderBird from Mozilla is actually far better.)

Yeah, yeah, yeah, comment if you want. But you know I’m right about all this stuff.
